Connexions
The ultimate goal of the Connexions Card programme (sponsored by the DfES) was to encourage all 14-19 year olds to enter into and remain in, some form of learning - schools, colleges, work-based training as well as becoming actively involved in voluntary work or active citizenship.
The project aimed to motivate young people to fulfil their potential, reducing some of the financial barriers to learning and improving the career and life choices that young people make.
In line with these objectives ACT helped Capita optimise the old smart card architecture, to enable third party application providers (e.g. transport operators, e-cash providers for schools) to also use the Connexions card. ACT therefore designed a smart card file personalisation and issuing system for contact and contactless connexion cards, which was fully integrated into existing Capita card bureau systems and smart card printers.
